What You Will Do

Gannett Fleming is looking for a Maintenance of Way Structural Engineer in the Washington, DC area. This position will be responsible for leading efforts to identify/confirm a leading transit agency’s structures inventory and assessing/developing processes and procedures to guide the transit agency’s efforts to ascertain the condition of its structural assets and maintain them in a state of good repair.  Specific duties include:

  • Reviewing and updating inventory of structural assets.
  • Reviewing, updating and/or developing procedures to identify, assess condition of and maintain structural assets in a state of good repair.
  • Reviewing, updating and/or developing inspection manuals compliant with applicable codes, regulations and industry best practices.
  • Assist in developing contract documents to maintain structures in a state of good repair.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare technical and analytical reports.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or related field from an accredited program. Professional registration strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience. Field experience performing bridge and structural inspections strongly preferred. 
  • Maintenance engineering experience preferred.
  • Transportation or transit experience preferred.
  • Experience with contracts and familiarity with contract methods preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear and concise manner
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of working in a Government environment preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
