What You Will Do

Gannett Fleming is seeking a talented individual for the position of Project Controls Specialist to provide project controls services (scheduling, resource planning, and cost analysis) for a large transit project in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Review contractor submitted baseline and subsequent schedule updates for contract conformance and progress
  • Interface with the project team and task managers to define scope of work in the development and update of detailed schedules, cost information, budget projections and identification of variances from the original plan
  • Utilize Primavera P6 (ver 8.0 and higher) scheduling software, Microsoft Office, and PROCORE document management system
  • Review, comment, and monitor the status of project schedule and identify developing problem areas
  • Perform construction observation and/or inspection to verify progress documentation
  • Prepare reports on the schedule and provide recommendations on the necessary steps to maintain schedule
  • Maintain constant communication with general contractor to facilitate on-time delivery
  • Assist in the coordination and planning of onsite operations
  • Assist with end-user communication and coordination
  • Assist with submittal coordination and monitor submittal progress
  • Prepare construction cost estimates
  • Perform time-impact analyses and fragnet generation
  • Support the negotiation of construction change orders
  • Prepare monthly progress reporting for federal oversight committee (FTA)
  • Maintain project files/documentation
  • Maintain familiarity with updates to scheduling best-practices and procedures


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Professional certification in scheduling and project controls is preferred
  • Minimum 10 years experience as a project scheduler is required
  • Experience with Primavera P6 (ver 8.0 or higher) and MS Project scheduling software is required
  • Experience with cost loaded and resource loaded schedules is required
  • Experience with facilities construction projects with budgets of $100 million or above is required
  • Experience with transit, transportation and rail is preferred
  • Must have a clean driving record
