What You Will Do

Gannett Fleming, Inc. seeks a highly motivated entry to mid-level ITS engineering professional who wants to join an exciting team of transportation professionals in the GF Transportation Operations (TOPS) Practice.  This position will report to the GF Transportation Systems Management and Operations Manager.  Depending on the specific project, this is a position that may require frequent travel for project site visits.  Work location for the candidate is the Gannett Fleming Office located in Columbus, Ohio.

Scope of Work:

  • Design –Develop project at all stages of the design process including concept of operations, systems engineering analysis, requirements development, preliminary engineering, and final engineering for a variety of intelligent transportation systems projects.
  • Planning – Assist clients with a variety of transportation operations planning initiatives to help maximize return on investment. Planning for transportation operations falls into a variety of categories: business/work planning, strategic planning, budget planning, human capital planning, and long-range planning.
  • Analysis - Analyze complex transportation systems management and operations issues ranging from optimizing how DOTs perform certain traffic incident management tasks, analyzing a specific transportation system problems and/or applying advanced statistics to assess the magnitude of a variety of existing and future transportation operations alternatives.
  • Writing – Strong writing skills are a requirement of the position. Samples of previous writing will likely be requested during the interview phase.
  • Interact with clients on a routine basis to relay clear, concise and consistent project related updates.
  • Responsible for timeliness, completeness and accuracy of assigned administrative requirements
  • Meeting planning and coordination as directed by TOPS Management
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and electronic communications
  • Participate in meetings, seminars, conferences, and committees as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned by the TOPS TSMO Manager

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant discipline attributable to Traffic Operations.

Master’s degree in Transportation preferred.

License/Registrations:

Candidate should be on a path to obtain PE licensure.

PE and PTOE preferred.

Driver’s License in good standing

  • Minimum of 3-years working in the field of transportation operations
  • Experienced in and/or knowledgeable of traffic monitoring and traffic control systems
  • Working knowledge of traffic modeling software packages
  • Capable of executing business communications; to include: memos, reports, analysis, etc.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and working in a fast paced environment
  • Competent in all MS Office products
  • Competent in basic use of Geographical Information Systems
  • Competent in basic use of computer-aided design (CAD) software
  • Technical writing skills to include grammar editing and content flow
  • Public speaking and presentation skills
  • Time management experience
  • Ability to travel as needed
