Responsibilities:

Gannett Fleming’s San Bruno Office is looking for a System Integration Engineer (preferably possessing a Professional Engineer License) with hands on experience in design, construction or operations in the commuter, light or heavy rail domain.  Successful candidates will have a track record of pro-actively leading tasks and solving complex technical challenges preferably in the commuter rail environment. Candidates must have strong technical capability in systems integration and engineering and excellent communication skills with the ability to guide or perform system level design. 

Railroad and/or commuter rail systems integration experience with the following tasks is required:

  • Buried utility/electrical/communications (etc.) cables,
  • Bridge interferences
  • Wayside signal preview
  • New tracks
  • Retaining walls
  • Low clearance bridges
  • Traction power substation physical access and utility connections
  • Rail operations rules
  • Coordination of catenary structures with train station platform construction,
  • Complex interlocking reconfigurations,
  • Bonding and grounding
  • Overhead electric lines crossing the railroad that need to be relocated
  • Safety, quality, environmental, commercial and project management procedures
  • Integration, Validation & Verification and other system engineering principles
  • Management of project requirements

Job Requirements

  • Degree, in relevant engineering discipline including Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
  • Registered Professional Engineer is strongly preferred (PE)
  • 5-7 years post degree/experience, technical and project management experience would be an advantage.
  • Commuter Rail, heavy rail, metro, urban and subway mass rail transit experience required 
  • Proven ability to work successfully in a multi-disciplinary teams and across different business units
  • Experience in a project environment with good customer relationship and stakeholder management skills.
  • Extracting technical and functional requirements from tender documents and create System, Subsystem, Interface requirements
  • Understanding and experience in Safety Management System and System Safety Certification.
  • Understanding and experience in System Integration
  • Understanding and experience in Requirement management and tractability.
  • Should have experience with database requirement management tools such as DOORS and ReqPro (requirement traceability measurement)
  • Understanding and Ability to develop System Integration Plan, System Validation and Verification Plan, System Safety Plan, System Safety Certification Plan, System Engineering Development Plan
