Gannett Fleming is seeking a Senior Track Civil Design Engineer to serve as Track Discipline Leader in our Baltimore office to support a large scale track design effort. Successful candidate must have knowledge and experience in railroad/transit planning, conceptual, preliminary and detailed design of rail transit and railroad alignments for transit systems. Duties will include planning, organizing and managing the work of a large staff of a multi-firm design team. Candidate shall have the ability to design complex track arrangements including special trackwork, maintenance yards, embedded and direct fixation track. Understand the track design relationships with systems engineering, drainage, utilities and operations are also required. Duties will also include managing the assembly of plans, specifications and construction cost estimates.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field (civil, structural, mechanical or electrical
  • Must be a Licenced Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Maryland (MD) or have the ability to obtain
  • 12-15 years experience in railroad engineering for light rail, heavy rail, or streetcar transit projects
  • Demonstrated ability to function in a project management capacity on medium to large scale transit/rail related projects, conversant in track alignment and design related work
  • Capable of managing multidisciplined teams both onsite and remotely, manage client deliverables and expectations
  • Microstation and Inroads experience preferred
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Candidate shall have strong written and verbal and communications skills
