Responsibilities:

Our Woodbury (Long Island), New York location is seeking a qualified Project Controls Scheduler for the PSEG Long Island $2.4 billion, 5-year capital improvement program in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, New York. An ideal candidate will be able to create, baseline, status, analyze, control, forecast, and report project schedules with integrated data in the Oracle P6 PM enterprise application for electric transmission and distribution, and substation projects. Planned and actual data includes various Work Breakdown Structure and Activity details for scope, durations, dates, relationships, resources, costs, progress, and codes. Proficiency in Oracle P6 PM and experience in electrical transmission and distribution, and substation utilities is required. 

Project Controls Scheduler

Create, baseline, status update, analyze, control, forecast, and report project schedules with integrated data in the Oracle P6 PM enterprise application for electric transmission and distribution, and substation projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and baseline project CPM schedules with integrated data from project execution plans and stakeholder input
  • Update, analyze, and report project CPM schedules each month according to baselines and integrated change control.
  • Incorporate and update schedule details for planned, accrued, actual, and forecasted data each month.
  • Interface with engineering and construction management to obtain and verify schedule status updates of their activities progress, accrual, actual, and forecast data.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to determine the corrective, preventative, or opportunity actions to take in response to schedule variances each month.
  • Reconcile past accrued and forecasted estimates with actual data each month for projects in various phases of development.
  • Organize and archive project schedule data for future use by the organization.
  • Work in a team environment whereby team members are able to discuss relevant issues freely and where there is a strong emphasis on continuous improvement, questioning the value of every activity and creating better solutions.
  • Self-start, seek out information, and time manage assignments based on objectives and deadlines

Job Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, or related program
  • Minimum four (4) years of electrical transmission, distribution, and substation project scheduling experience.
  • Critical Path Method (CPM) Schedule course or training
  • Oracle P6 PM training

Knowledge Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of work breakdown structures and work packages, activities, and activity details associated with electric transmission and distribution, and substation utility projects in all phases of project delivery.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise data and structures best practices for multiple project programs.
  • Working knowledge of electric utility operating policies, processes, and procedures (FERC/NERC, Sarbanes – Oxley requirements).
  • Working knowledge of SAP financial enterprise application
  • Working knowledge of MS Sharepoint
  • Understanding of Project and Program Management scheduling best practices

Skill Qualifications:

  • Proficient in obtaining and developing schedule input from stakeholders
  • Proficient in developing CPM schedules
  • Proficient in using Oracle P6 PM scheduling enterprise platform
  • Proficient in MS-Excel
  • Proficient with integrating project scope, time, cost, quality, procurement, and risk data details in Oracle P6 PM.
  • Proficient with Earned Value Analysis and corrective actions.
  • Able to analyze project actual, accrued and forecasted data for deviations to schedule baselines
  • Able to analyze contractor bid schedules.
  • Able to speak, read, and write in the English language
  • Able to plan, organize, and time manage work assignments to meet required objectives.
  • Work history with electric utilities is preferred.
