Responsibilities:

Our Woodbury (Long Island), New York location is seeking a qualified Project Controls Cost Analyst for the PSEG Long Island $2.4 billion, 5-year capital improvement program in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, New York. An ideal candidate will be able to monitor, organize, and analyze monthly cost and schedule data from electric transmission and distribution, and substation projects in order to report control actions to project managers. Data includes labor, equipment, material, and technology types that are planned, accrued, accumulated, and forecasted during various phases of project development. Experience in electrical transmission and distribution, and substation utilities is required.

Project Controls Cost Analyst:

Monitor, organize, and analyze monthly cost and schedule data from electric transmission and distribution, and substation projects in order to report performance, and to collaborate with the project management team for control actions.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare project financial monitoring and control reports each month in accordance with project execution plans.
  • Monitor, organize, and analyze data from SAP financial enterprise application, and estimate accrual and forecast data for electric transmission and distribution, and substation projects in various phases of development.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to determine appropriate control actions to correct project variances each month.
  • Interface with engineering and construction management to present and verify financial/business analysis of their activities.
  • Estimate financial accrual and forecast data, and reconcile past estimates with actual data each month for electric transmission and distribution, and substation projects in various phases of development.
  • Organize and archive project data for future use by the organization.
  • Work in a team environment whereby team members are able to discuss relevant issues freely and where there is a strong emphasis on continuous improvement, questioning the value of every activity and creating better solutions.
  • Self-start, seek out information, and time manage assignments based on objectives and deadlines

Job Requirements

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, or related program
  • Minimum four (4) years of electrical transmission, distribution, and substation project financial monitoring and control experience.
  • Professional license or certification
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or similar training

Knowledge Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of labor, material, equipment, and technology costs and production rates associated with electric transmission and distribution, and substation utility projects.
  • Electric utility operating policies, processes, and procedures (FERC/NERC, Sarbanes – Oxley requirements)

Skill Qualifications:

  • Proficient in MS-Excel
  • Understand and work with financial data from SAP financial enterprise application
  • Understand and work with schedule data from Oracle P6 PM
  • Able to estimate and verify project accruals
  • Able to forecast and verify remaining project costs
  • Ability to read and understand electric transmission and distribution, and substation project drawings, specifications, estimates, and contractor bids
  • Able to speak, read, and write in the English language
  • Able to plan, organize, and time manage work assignments to meet required objectives.
