What You Will Do 

We are currently looking for a MOWE (Maintenance of Way Engineer) to join our Washington, DC office. 

Primary responsibility is to support the planning and coordination of capital maintenance of way work:

  • Preparation of materials for weekly MOWE Work Coordination and RSA Support meetings, including meeting notes
  • Receipt and review of requests for RSA events and scopes of work, including distribution to relevant/affected parties.
  • Distribution of coordinated work plans, equipment line-ups and other logistical work coordination details
  • Maintenance of department shared drive and electronic file storage for coordinated work plans, maps, schedules and progress reports
  • Ad hoc reports and analysis as required to support planning of work

Responsibilities to support Chief may include:

  • Preparation of bi-weekly MOWE Incidents, Trends & Initiatives Report which will consolidate incident and trend analysis from Engineering, performance against planned work and status of major MOWE initiatives
  • Preparation of presentations, reports and memorandums for executive and/or external audiences (e.g. RailSTAT, board presentations)
  • Ad hoc reports and analysis as required
  • Preparation and distribution of correspondence, memoranda, action lists, and related material for Chief, MOWE
  • Development and maintenance of department internal website


Preferred Qualifications

Successful candidates will possess the following:

  • Associate degree or above in a construction, construction management or a related professional engineering field such as Electrical or Systems Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of construction and/or engineering related experience, preferably on large, complex programs.
  • Rail experience and/or Transit Systems experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required; proficiency with Primavera 6 (P6) is preferred.
  • Experience with Procore is preferred.
  • The person must be able to work periodically in the field around operating equipment and field / construction experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and information flows, analyze data and develop reports and presentations for a variety of audiences.
  • Good listening and written communication skills are required.
