What You Will Do

Gannett Fleming is looking for a Mechanical Designer to work on various projects as assigned by a Project Manager or Lead Engineer. This position will play a role in the entire design process including but not limited to preliminary assessments, concept creation, design, problem resolution, drawing and specification production, and customer and vendor accessibility. The Designer may work on several concurrent projects and at times may assist as a technical expert on a specialized design.

  • Facilitates in BIM design, management and coordination
  • Facilitates design concepts; prepares documents during design development phase and detail design phases.
  • Prepare engineering studies and schematic design for new systems and analyze operation of existing systems.
  • Uses computer aided design technologies to develop sketches, drawings, and construction documents.
  • Works with equipment suppliers/vendors to obtain the necessary information needed for design completion.
  • Interacts with clients regularly to secure scope and design intent.
  • Ensure acceptable levels of quality and checks for coordination of work to assure documents reflect design intent and necessary coordination.
  • Coordinate all aspects of project document completion within company and externally with clients and other design professionals.
  • Coordinates design work with related engineering disciplines.
  • Attend job and construction meetings and participate in the coordination of the work. 


Minimum Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of design experience with building HVAC systems.
  • Able to perform load calculations using TRACE, generate T-24 using Energy Pro, select equipment based on loads, layout air distribution and piping.
  • Has experience on projects involving VAV AHUs, Package units, Split systems, WSHPs, VRF and other common HVAC systems.
  • Experience with Central plants is a plus.
  • 2-3 years of hands on experience in REVIT. Able to layout air distribution, piping and other HVAC in REVIT. Able to create family and work with details and sections. Able to coordinate with other trades, run clash detection and produce full drawings.
  • Able to work in team environment with aggressive schedules multiple projects. Able to communicate professionally in verbal and electronic forms.
  • Highly interested in training and further studies. (We believe in consistent continuing education and promote our employees for continuous training in their field)
  • Knowledge and design ability for building plumbing system is a plus but not required.
  • EIT and PE is plus.
