Responsibilities:

Gannett Fleming is seeking an enthusiastic Internal Communications Senior Strategist to be based in the Camp Hill, Pennsylvania office. The candidate will work closely with the Corporate Communications Manager and Deputy Manager to develop and implement employee and stakeholder communication strategies that inform, motivate and unite employees across the company and make a positive difference on their workplace experience.

This is not your average communications position. A consummate team player, the candidate must be a critical and creative thinker who is responsive, has superior writing skills, and a passion to raise the bar at all times. S/he loves diving into the details, is adept at managing multiple projects concurrently, and is capable of influencing peers and leaders across the organization on issues that have organization-wide impact. Experience in change management is a plus.

The successful candidate must be comfortable interfacing and collaborating with employees at all levels and across all departments of the organization, including C-Suite executives, HR, business line leaders, Accounting, and IT Services.

The Internal Communications Senior Strategist will be responsible for maintaining communications processes and current channels, while staying abreast of emerging technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of internal communications strategy and messages that inform and engage employees and help gain buy-in of the company’s key priorities and strategies designed to drive results.
  • Write, edit and secure approval of fresh content, including stories, announcements, speeches, and emails in support of Gannett Fleming’s strategic and tactical business objectives. Produce communications on a wide variety of topics, including corporate announcements, benefits, wellness, quality, safety, learning, organizational changes, and external issues.
  • Review and edit existing content to improve employee understanding and develop a process for removing stale or outdated information. Work will include re-drafting complex content into a more user-friendly style.
  • Manage ongoing development of internal editorial calendar. Plan and coordinate timing for internal communications across the global enterprise.
  • Work in cross-functional project teams to develop and implement campaigns that support major corporate initiatives.
  • Engage employees as proud owners of the Gannett Fleming brand and develop content to equip employees as brand ambassadors.
  • Develop and maintain internal companywide communications channels. Determine appropriate vehicles and technologies to ensure timely distribution of communications and drive high levels of employee engagement.
  • Develop and manage global guidelines and templates for core communication channels and technologies including internal social media.
  • Write and supervise the production of videos that drive messaging to internal audiences that reinforce corporate priorities, drive awareness of employee benefits and opportunities, and build morale. Serve as the project manager, developing the key value messaging, and collaborating with senior leadership and creative staff on the final product.
  • Measure effectiveness of employee communications activities.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related filed.
  • Must have 8-10 years of progressive communications experience.
  • Exceptional planning, project management, attention-to-detail, and coordination skills.
  • Well-versed in writing for and leveraging an array of communications channels, including employee intranet, emails, newsletters, and enterprise social networking solutions such as Yammer or Slack.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with ability to work in a fast-faced, deadline driven environment.
  • Skilled at translating complex subjects into communications for broad audiences.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead and build consensus across corporate departments.
  • Experience in communicating to large, dispersed audiences.
  • Knowledge of communications delivery vehicles.
  • Knowledge of layout and graphic design principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with employees at all levels of an organization.
  • Strong Office 365 skills, including Word, Excel, OneDrive, PowerPoint, and Sharepoint.
  • Must be fluent in AP Style and able to write clearly and succinctly with a high-level of accuracy, using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Willingness to travel and participate in industry events and professional conferences.
